Can you please introduce yourself and provide a brief background about your artistic journey?

My name is Deydee, and I hail from the beautiful Canary Islands. Coming from humble beginnings and without much family background in the arts, I found solace in expressing my pain through lyrical music. It’s been a journey of turning adversity into art.

What or who inspired you to pursue a career in music?

I’ve been deeply inspired by every single artist who has come up from the Canary Islands, especially Quevedo and Mikey de la Calle. Their success stories resonate with my own aspirations and experiences.

How would you describe your musical style?

I don’t confine myself to a specific style; I create what comes from the heart. My music is a raw and honest reflection of my emotions and experiences.

What sets you apart from other emerging musicians in your genre?

My unique style sets me apart. I’m not in this for fame or numbers. My primary goal is to express my feelings through music, creating a genuine connection with my audience.

Can you tell us about the creative process behind your latest project or album?

Now that I’m signed with Rueda Empire LLC, we’re currently working on a new EP with Mr. Rommel. This EP will be a lyrical relief, where I express thoughts and emotions I’ve long wanted to share.

What challenges have you faced in your career so far, and how have you overcome them?

The biggest challenge has been pushing myself to deliver my best lyrically on this album. Overcoming it has required deep introspection and relentless dedication to my craft.

How do you stay motivated and inspired as a musician?

I stay motivated by reflecting on my beginnings and remembering where I came from. My roots keep me grounded and driven. I do this for my people.

What role does collaboration play in your music creation process?

While I have done many collaborations and value them highly, this album is focused 100% on me as an artist. It’s a personal project where I want to showcase my individual artistry.

Are there any artists you would love to work with in the future?

Absolutely, Quevedo is at the top of my list.

What has been your most memorable performance to date?

Performing every year at the festive carnival on my island is always a highlight. It’s a chance to connect with my community and celebrate our culture.

How do you engage with your fans and followers on social media?

I’m always reading their comments and watching to see what they’re asking for. Engaging with my fans is crucial; their support fuels my passion.

How has your music evolved since you first started in the industry?

My music has evolved significantly with each song. Every year, my lyrics and music improve, and this upcoming EP will be no exception.

Can you share a pivotal moment or turning point in your career?

Meeting Josue Rueda, CEO of Rueda Empire LLC, was a pivotal moment. Working together has significantly elevated my career.

What message or impact do you hope to convey through your music?

I aim to convey pain, truth, and acceptance. I want people to know that regardless of who they are, we all have a chance to achieve greatness.

What are your short-term and long-term goals as a musician?

In the short term, I aim to make history and ensure my music is never forgotten. Long-term, I want to leave a lasting legacy.

How do you balance your personal life with your professional pursuits?

Having a supportive circle that understands my goals is crucial. It helps me maintain a healthy balance between my personal and professional life.

What is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

The best advice I’ve received is to never give up. Persistence is key in this industry.

What advice would you give to other emerging musicians looking to break into the industry?

Love and embrace yourself. No one can stop you from being you.

Peruvian actress Gachi Angeles has made a name for herself as an emerging talent in the world of theater and cinema. Born in Lima, Gachi’s journey has taken her from a modest upbringing in the naval village of San Borja to the classrooms of the renowned Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in Los Angeles.

Going forward, Gachi has ambitious plans in alignment with her training at the Institute. She aspires to perform in future theater productions and has plans to work with her mentor, Paul, again in the near future.

The northernmost U.S. military base in the world has a new name, and it’s even harder to pronounce than the old one: Thule Air Base was renamed Pituffik Space Base on April 6.

Pronounced “Bee-doo-FEEK,” the new moniker reflects the Inuit native people’s name for the settlement where the Greenland base was built and recognizes the base’s primary role in support of space missions.

Located nearly 700 miles north of the Arctic Circle, Pituffik has been home to U.S. Air Force personnel since the early 1950s, where its strategic location makes it vital to missile defense and space domain awareness. Pituffik hosts the 12th Space Warning Squadron and its Upgraded Early Warning Radar, and Detachment 1 of the 23rd Space Operations Squadron, which does telemetry, tracking, and controls dozens of satellites.

Pituffik’s original Inuit residents were forcibly relocated in 1953, a history that remains controversial in Greenland to this day.

The base’s former name, Thule, came from explorer Knud Rasmussen early in the 20th century, a reference to Greek and Roman maps that cited a mysterious northern island called “ultima Thule”—named for an ancient Greek explorer who sailed far north and landed on an island whose name he heard as “Thule.

“This renaming represents our wish to celebrate and acknowledge the rich cultural heritage of Greenland and its people and how important they are to the sustainment of this installation against the harsh environment north of the Arctic Circle,” Chief of Space Operations Gen. B. Chance Satlzman said at a ceremony unveiling the name change.

Greenlandic Minister for Foreign Affairs, Business, and Trade Vivian Motzfeldt attended the ceremony and hailed the change as important for Greenlandic culture.

“With the decision to rename, the U.S. has demonstrated its respect to the friendship between us, recognizing cultural heritage, and the history of the base,” Motzfeldt. “I hope that this day will serve as an example of the ability of great nations to listen to even their smallest neighbors. … Today the U.S. has proclaimed to the world, that here lies Pituffik Space Base, where even this far north, there is a people, and they have a name for the place from where we keep watch over all our peoples.”

About 140 Airmen and Guardians are stationed at Pituffik, plus some 450 contractors, civilians, and military personnel representing Denmark, Canada, and Greenland. The base is completely locked in by ice and mostly shrouded in darkness for nine months out of the year.

Pituffik got some rare public attention in the past year, hosting late night TV host and comedian Stephen Colbert for a special in December and F-35 fighters, which landed there for the first time in January.

Pituffik is the latest Space Force installation to be renamed. Others include:

Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif., which hosts Space Systems Command, is expected to be renamed, as well. No word yet, though, on when that might happen.
